New Year, new pet, new friendship, new family member. At Operation Kindness, we are grateful for all the animals who found loving homes this year. However, we want to help even more animals find a family to call their own this new year. The best way to kick off 2025 is by welcoming a new cat or dog into your life and want to share some reasons why.

All Operation Kindness Pet Adoptions will be Free

Our goal is to make adopting a pet easy and accessible, which is why we are waiving pet adoption fees at all of our locations this New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31. Adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchips, free 30-day pet insurance and a complimentary trial of pet food.

Help make room in shelters by adopting

By adopting a new cat or dog this New Year’s, you can make a huge difference in the community. Space is limited in animal shelters, with one pet adopted with a new family, there is room for another pet to receive lifesaving care. Going into 2025, we aim to increase the amount of pets we help find caring homes by helping community members meet the pet that fits them best!

Create new bonds and memories

No matter what lifestyle or personality you have, there is a pet for you! Prefer napping, relaxing and watching TV? Then there are multiple cats that love doing the same. If you are someone who likes hiking and exploring outdoors, many of our adoptable dogs would enjoy accompanying you on the next adventure.

This is a season that marks new beginnings for not only you, but a pet too! Right now is a perfect time to start fresh with a pet and learn how to be a great pet parent. The memories you create with a newly adopted animal who will quickly become your life companion are some of the best and will leave you filled with joy.

Create a new and improved routine

Most New Year’s resolutions include getting into a better routine. A new pet can help motivate you to stick to a productive daily routine throughout the year. Taking your dog on a morning walk, playing with your cat before bed or making sure you are feeding your pet at their scheduled time are all perfect ways to establish a stable routine for both you and your pet. Plus, having a daily routine is shown to improve your mental health, sleep and stress.

Allows you to learn something new

No matter if you are an experienced pet owner or not, pets will continue to challenge your knowledge and help you learn every day. Each year, many people make it a goal to learn and grow into a more well-rounded person. Adopting a new pet can help you learn and experience new things, like how to train a dog to do a more advanced trick or how to use positive reinforcement to stop a cat from scratching. You can even gain more insight on resources and training for your pet by checking out our resource page.

No matter what your goals are this year, a new pet can bring you endless joy while fulfilling it! While our Carrolton shelter will be closed on New Year’s Day, you can browse our adoptable cats and dogs on Operation Kindness’ website no matter the time or day.
