It’s September 1, the first day of early giving for North Texas Giving Day 2024!
North Texas Giving Day is an online day of giving for our community to come together and give to their favorite non-profit organizations.
Your donations help us to raise $350,000 to support our lifesaving shelter and programs that help people and pets. Donations will help provide veterinary care, food and so much more for animals in need.
Wondering why you should give to the animals this year? Here’s our top five reasons for donating to North Texas Giving Day in 2024.
You’re helping more pets find families than ever before.
We’ve been helping pets find homes in North Texas since 1976, with a record of 5,542 adoptions at our Carrolton shelter in the last fiscal year. To help make this happen, we had 600 more animals in Operation Kindness foster homes this fiscal year than ever before. With all these new faces, we are caring for more animals than ever before in our shelter’s Rees-Jones Foundation Medical Wing and neonatal kitten nursery.
You’re taking animal lifesaving outside the shelter walls and into the community.
Our Dallas St. Clair Pet Food Pantry distributed over $427,000 worth of food in the last fiscal year.
Our Community Initiatives program served 24,531 animals in 2023 through vaccine and microchip clinics, spay/neuter surgeries, community clinics and more. Community clinic events bring the best of what we do to the places where it is needed most.
You’re bringing the animal welfare community together at the new Lifesaving Partnerships Hub.
Our new Lifesavings Partnership Hub opened in June of 2024, creating a community medical and transport hub in Dallas where Operation Kindness and shelter and rescue partners can work together unlike ever before. The space will also serve as home base for the community initiatives team and as a hub for interstate animal transport and Pet Food Pantry.
Your gifts are going further than ever to get pets home.
To date, Operation Kindness has facilitated over one thousand animal transports in our Interstate Transport Program. With the opening of our Lifesaving Partnerships Hub, we are obtaining health certificates and medical care for animals who are candidates for finding new homes in northern areas where they are needed most.
You’re taking top veterinary care for animals on the road.
The new Operation Kindness mobile veterinary unit will make lifesaving surgeries and medical care possible for more pets in Texas than ever before.
The animals need you NOW.
While we feel ready for the challenge, there’s more work ahead of us than ever before. While our Community Initiative programs grow, we hit a record on animal intakes in fiscal year 2024 at 6,035 animals, a 9% increase from last year alone.
When you give to the animals at Operation Kindness today, you’re helping us prepare so we can be there for pets in North Texas when they need us most.
Donations to our North Texas Giving Day campaign can be made starting now until midnight on September 19. To make a gift to the animals, visit the North Texas Giving Day website.
