We’re excited to share that we’re expanding our lifesaving animal services by entering the professional training space. Operation Kindness will now provide training and education for animal welfare professionals. To make this possible, the organization is merging with Texas Unites for Animals.
Texas Unites for Animals, a non-profit whose mission is to enhance professionalism in the animal welfare industry, hosts training opportunities and required continuing education courses for animal welfare workers. The organization also produces an annual conference for members of the animal welfare community. Texas Unites will now exist under Operation Kindness, who will provide greater financial and staff support to Texas Unites’ work. Operation Kindness will also provide an expanded audience for Texas Unites’ programming through connection to Operation Kindness’ network of partners.
Coming Together to Be Better
“It’s Operation Kindness’ aim to be of assistance to the animal welfare community wherever there is need,” said Ed Jamison, CEO of Operation Kindness. “My vision is for Operation Kindness to be the animal welfare professional development and training leader in Texas. By bringing Texas Unites for Animals into our family, we’ll be able to combine our resources and expertise to educate animal welfare professionals across the state.”
Rebecca Langevin of Texas Unites said, “I am excited to see our two thriving organizations come together to strengthen services provided to the animal welfare community in Texas. With Operation Kindness’ support, Texas Unites for Animals programs will continue to grow and expand as a state-wide resource to animal welfare professionals.”
In Texas, animal control officers are required to earn 30 hours of continuing education training every three years. Certified Animal Welfare Administrators, Veterinarians and Licensed Veterinary Technicians also have continuing education requirements. Texas Unites training courses help animal welfare workers meet these requirements.
Texas Unites’ annual conference is scheduled for April 26-29, 2024, in Austin, Texas. Information about the conference and upcoming Texas Unites trainings are available on the Operation Kindness website.
