We are celebrating the tenth annual Clear the Shelters initiative with NBCUniversal and Telemundo, aiming to increase animal adoptions in the community and create space in animal shelters across the country as they reach critical capacity levels.
Over the month-long initiative beginning August 10, 2024, we will partner with NBCUniversal and Telemundo to promote animal adoption in the community, with us hosting free animal adoptions from Friday, September 6 through Sunday, September 8, 2024 at all of our locations. If you adopt a cat or small dog from our Carrollton location, your adoption also includes a free memory foam pet bed ($75 retail value), donated by Whiskers!
“It is our mission to find loving homes for all of the animals in Operation Kindness’ care,” said Operation Kindness CEO Ed Jamison. “Partners like NBC5 and Telemundo and the Clear the Shelters initiative are critical in helping the North Texas community know how special our animals are and how ready they are for loving homes. We’re excited to work hard for the month to get all of our available pets home with new families so we can continue to save lives in North Texas.”
Preparing for your visit
Operation Kindness’ Carrollton Shelter and PetSmart Adoption Centers are open from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. seven days a week. Adoption appointments are not required.
Potential adopters are invited to prepare for a visit by browsing our adoption pages to see available animals. Profiles include age, gender and personality descriptions. Operation Kindness adoption counselors discuss further details, such as medical records, during adoption.
After viewing available animals online, families can get to know available pets during meet-and-greets to find the right match. Operation Kindness skilled adoption counselors can answer any questions and go over stories about the animal and what to expect.
After adopting
After adoption, Operation Kindness continues to support adopters with resources and assistance. Training and behavior resources are available online for both dogs and cats.
If your pet becomes sick after adoption, Operation Kindness provides medical care at no cost for up to 2 weeks.
