As the summer progresses, so does work on Operation Kindness’ three-phase capital campaign.
Construction on the Bear’s Den building for large dogs began a few weeks ago, in early June. The existing building was demolished on June 13 to make way for the new, much larger, state-of-the-art building for kenneling large dogs. We anticipate it to be complete by summer 2020.
On the animal hospital, exterior stonework and interior drywall are up. We are eagerly anticipating the hospital to open in November 2019.
Renovations to the existing facility, including the lobby, cat rooms, and small dog rooms, are still planned to begin in early 2020.
As a reminder, these are a few of the benefits we’re looking forward to for the animals:
- Expanded indoor/outdoor kennels for dogs with more space
- Quieter, more relaxing areas for cats
- Outdoor areas for animals under medical treatment to get fresh air
- Additional isolation rooms to improve recovery time for contagious illness
- Separation between the animal hospital and adoption center, reducing spread of illness
- Space for an oxygen generator for treating upper respiratory infections
- Soundproofing to reduce noise and stress on the animals
All construction and renovations are expected to be complete by end of summer 2020.
