Operation Kindness is thrilled to announce that two of our esteemed team members, Meaghan Swan-Wilson and Kelly Furnas, will be speaking at the 2024 Best Friends Animal Society Conference in Orlando, Florida. Additionally, Meaghan Swan-Wilson and Stephani Coe will be presenting a poster at the event, showcasing our innovative efforts in shelter medical protocols.
Sharing Knowledge from our Senior Leadership Team
Kelly Furnas, who became the Chief Operating Officer of Operation Kindness in July 2021, will be co-presenting with Meaghan Swan-Wilson, our Senior Manager of Data and Logistics since July 2021 at the 2024 Best Friends Animal Society Conference. Furnas has been with Operation Kindness since 2015, serving in various leadership roles, and is dedicated to maximizing lifesaving impact and operational efficiency. With a background in business management from Texas A&M University and extensive experience in the financial services industry, Furnas now oversees the day-to-day operations of our Operation Kindness, including medical, operations, and facilities.
Swan-Wilson brings over 13 years of experience in animal welfare, specializing in shelter operations, population management, and data analysis. She has played a crucial role in aligning, maximizing, and streamlining our shelter operations through data-driven strategic decision-making. Meaghan’s expertise has significantly increased our operational efficiency, and she looks forward to sharing insights on how other shelters can achieve similar success.
Their presentation, “Implementing a Data-Driven Culture in Animal Organizations,” will explore the implementation of a data-driven culture within animal organizations to enhance lifesaving and operational efficiency. By leveraging data, organizations can make informed decisions, optimize resource allocation, and better serve their communities. They will highlight real-world examples from Operation Kindness, including our record-breaking year in intakes, foster placements, and adoptions in 2023.
Saving Lives in Medical Intake
In addition to her presentation, Swan-Wilson, along with our Senior Operations Manager Stephani Coe, will present a poster titled “Optimizing Shelter Medical Protocols: Reducing Medical LOS and Increasing Lifesaving Intake.” This poster will focus on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical care at our shelter. Their initiative aims to implement targeted protocols and strategies to reduce the medical Length of Stay (LOS) for animals while increasing the number of lifesaving medical intakes. This approach not only improves the health outcomes for the animals in our care but also allows us to help more animals in need.
We are honored to be selected as presenters at the 2024 Best Friends Animal Society Conference and are looking forward to sharing our knowledge and experiences with the animal welfare community.
