Operation Kindness is thrilled to announce the launch of our highly anticipated Paw Pioneers Camp for summer 2024. Aimed at young animal enthusiasts aged 7-14, the camp offers an exciting opportunity for children to delve into the world of animal welfare and experience firsthand the inner workings of a leading animal shelter.
Paw Pioneers Camp is designed to provide an immersive and educational experience for children aged 11-14, with a two-day camp experience being held on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30, as well as on Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28. Junior Paw Pioneers Camp offers an equally enriching experience for younger participants aged 7-10 and will be held on Wednesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 27, as well as Wednesday, July 24 and Thursday, July 25.
Attendees of Paw Pioneers Camp will have the chance to engage in a variety of activities, including watching up-close veterinary procedures in the shelter’s Rees-Jones Medical Wing, touring the neonatal kitten nursery, spending quality time with both the shelter’s dogs and cats and learning about day-to-day shelter operations. Through these experiences, campers will gain insight into the daily care routines of shelter animals, animal welfare topics such as the importance of spaying and neutering, and the critical role of animal adoption in saving lives. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with our dedicated shelter staff and volunteers who work to improve the lives of animals in need. Each child will also go home with a commemorative t-shirt.
“At Operation Kindness, we are passionate about creating opportunities for young minds to explore and understand the vital role of animal welfare in our communities. Hosting these camps isn’t just about providing a fun summer experience,” CEO Ed Jamison said. “It’s about instilling a sense of compassion and responsibility towards animals from an early age. By immersing children in the daily operations of our shelter through Paw Pioneers Camp and Junior Paw Pioneers Camp, we’re nurturing future advocates who will play a crucial role in creating a more compassionate and humane society.”
Operation Kindness’s goal with Paw Pioneers Camp is to ignite a lifelong passion for animal welfare in young hearts and minds, empowering them to become advocates for animals in our communities.
