We are celebrating the end of the year by reflecting on all that you made possible! Our mission of helping animals receive lifesaving care and helping them search for loving homes wouldn’t be possible without your support! Read our top mission moments from the past year as we look ahead to our goals in 2025.
Opening our Lifesaving Partnerships Hub
To provide veterinary support for our partner rescue groups pulling animals from Dallas Animal Services (DAS), we opened the Lifesaving Partnerships Hub to the public in June 2024. The new facility, funded by a donation from the Rees-Jones Foundation, includes a new medical area and surgery suite, Pet Food Pantry storage and indoor kennels. With the facility, we are now able to help more animals receive lifesaving care and help them find a loving family.
Launching our new foster program
This year, we wanted to reinvent out foster program, which is why we launched “Kindness on the Go.” This program allows community members to take a furry friend out for a day of adventure. This offers pets the chance to socialize and receive mental enrichment while simultaneously helping us learn about the dog’s personality to help place them in the right home.
Taking out our Veterinary Services Mobile
In July 2024, we announced the acquisition of a new mobile veterinary unit to help us expand our vaccine and wellness clinics for the community. While most community clinics are hosted outside during various weather conditions, our mobile unit provides an enclosed area with temperature-regulated space for the animals. The mobile unit also assists partner shelter services, who often don’t have surgery suites in their buildings.
Graduating our shelter dogs to service animals
We partnered with Dogs for Better Lives to create the From Shelter to Service Dog program. This collaborative program is designed to transform the lives of shelter dogs and provide them with a second chance as life-changing service dogs. In February of 2024, the two Operation Kindness dogs graduated from the program for the first time and were placed with clients that matched their specialized training.
Finding 227 Pets homes during Holiday Adoption Event
From the end of November to Christmas Eve, Operation Kindness partners with Galleria Dallas annually to host holiday adoptions at the shopping center. This year, we helped find homes for 227 pets through the holiday pop-up adoption event. Through this partnership, we are able to make adopting pets more accessible during the busy holiday season.
Providing Forensic Veterinary Services to Dallas
In March 2024, we signed a Memorium of Understanding with the Dallas Police Department to provide forensic services to the department for the next two years. The forensics team works within the Dallas Animal Services (DAS) shelter to provide forensic examinations and necropsies for animals suspected of being victims of cruelty or neglect. With this partnership, we aim to help save the lives of pets in our community.
With the amazing accomplishments made in 2024, we are excited for the upcoming year! We appreciate all the support given to us and know together we can help more animals receive the lifesaving care they need. Thank you for a great year!
